Some plants look so stunning that everyone would love to have it at home. That also refers to succulents which sometimes come in some really bizarre shapes.
Like a mermaid's tail
Senecio vitalis is a great decoration. Its long blue-green leaves remind a bit a mermaid's tail. They can be 3 – 6 inches ling and are covered with a wax layer protecting them against sun.
A guest from Africa
The plant originally comes from RSA. Even if you are not keen on succulents, you are bound to like it. It will good both potted as well as in the garden. It must be pointed out here that it propagates really fast.
Senecio vitalis and its preferences
Location
The plant prefers window sills with good sun exposure.
Watering
The plant should only be watered when the soil is completely dry. It is very sensitive to excessive watering - its roots might rot.
Fertilization
During the vegetation period it can be fertilized using standard succulent and cactus fertilizers.
Remember that senecio vitalis is not resistant to frost. When the temperature drops below 0 degrees C, the plant needs to be taken somewhere warmer.
