    Strong Wind Turned Frozen Sand Into Wonderful Columns. They Look Extraterrestrial!

    They look as if they had been formed by an alien or at least a long-forgotten civilization. The truth is that this is only weather conditions of the Michigan Lake in the USA that’s behind these natural works of art.

    The columns shown in the photos were shaped in sand and the only thing that makes it last is freezing air

    At first the columns are wide but due to strong winds blowing by the lake they get slimmer and slimmer

    Finally such structures are formed. One might think they come from ‘The Dune’ movie location

    Unfortunately, the columns are a very temporary phenomenon. After a couple of days the wind destroys them completely
