Visit to the Hairdresser Changes the Life of a Homeless Man

We are not all born under a lucky star. Some of us end up living in the street. Still, the wheel of fortune keeps turning and sometimes all you need to do is to… go to the hairdresser!

João Coelho Guimarães can’t consider himself as a lucky guy. This 45-year old guy has been living in the streets of Goiânia (Brazil) for three years now. Every day was a hunt for food and shelter to spend the next night. No wonder that your appearance is one of the last things he would bother about. Still, one day he decided to change it and went into a hairdresser’s to ask for a razor so that he could trim his beard.

He said he had done it because the man simply needed the help

‘We decided to help him because we saw that he badly needed it. We had been friends for two months. Once he asked us to lend him a razor, we were glad to welcome him and give him a full hairdressing experience.

There were tears and there were emotions. However, this story does not have a typical happy ending. The man went on living in the street. His sister offered her home and asked him to come back, but he refused. This is the street where he feels really free. And this is where he wants to live.
