Seniors Recreated Famous Paintings for a Calendar

Seniors in nursing homes do not have to feel lonely. In Great Britain a unique photo session was organized for them.

MHA Brookfield is a modern nursing home located in Oxford. Among other things, it cares for seniors suffering from dementia. The staff is very supportive of all residents and does everything to make sure they are comfortable. Any activities and excursions are also important.

In late 2021, 14 residents participated in an unusual project. After being disguised and styled, they began posing for photographs. They masterfully recreated characters from famous paintings, and the photographs became the basis for an artistic calendar for 2022.

The photos were taken by volunteer Rebecca Phillipson, and the calendar can be purchased at the nursing home for about 15USD. The seniors were very excited about the whole project and many of them wanted to be part of the calendar. The costumes and props were made by the residents themselves along with staff.
