7 Potted Plants Blooming Only in the Winter. Let Them Bring in Some Summer Colors!

Winter in the garden is a peculiar time. Plants get hibernated and all flower beds are covered with a blanket of snow. Still, even in the coldest months, you can enjoy the beauty of some flowers at home. There are some potted plants blooming in the winter that will catch the eye of everyone!

The plant has got smooth leaves and wonderful flowers coming in a variety of colors (red, pink, beige, purple, violet, white or orange). It begins blooming in the late fall with the buds holding on till February. It prefers bright spots.

This plant, owing to its beautiful leaves, sometimes turning red, white or orange on the top, is an almost indispensable Christmas decoration in many homes. There are also two-color varieties.

The plant grows well in a warm and sunny place.

It is a perennial plant with hairy stems, growing up to 8 inches. Its most decorative part are colorful flowers making you think of daisies a little. Some of them are sapphire or violet. The plant blooms in February and March.

Although we associate the plant with gardens mostly, this plant grows well also when potted. It’s got spectacular flowers (pink, white, red) and really thick evergreen leaves. The plant prefers bright but cold spots. The soil can’t get too dry.

This succulent has got thick juicy shiny leaves. The flower umbels bloom from December to February in a number of shades orange, red, pink and white.

The plant prefers bright places. In the winter it has to be kept far from the radiators as excessive heat can cause leaf loss.
