Air traffic is slowly being revived. Who knows, maybe as early as this summer we’ll be able to travel again all over the world.
Airports are very often the first place we see in a given country. Some of them are really impressive.
Although it’s almost impossible to present all fantastic airports, let us show you at least sixteen of them. Each of them is special and impresses anyone who has a chance to be there.
1. Ashgabat International Airport (Turkmenistan)
The terminal looks like a hawk which is just about to fly It’s already in the Guinness Book of World Records thanks to the decorative roof, more specifically thanks to its unique architectural form.
2. Abu Dhabi International Airport (UAE)
The airport looks like a ship at sea. It is located between Abu Dabi and Dubai. It ideally fits the atmosphere of these luxurious cities.
3. Lyon–Saint-Exupéry International Airport (Lyon, France)
The airport honours Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a renowned writer and professional pilot born in Lyon
4. Marrakesh Menara Airport (Morocco)
One of the most beautiful airports in the world. The design connects European technologies and traditional culture of Morocco.
5. Incheon International Airport (South Korea)
One of the biggest airports in the world. Since 2005 it has been recognised by Airports Council International as the best airport in the world.
6. Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (Shenzhen, China)
The airport is located on the east side of the Pearl River Delta. It is the only international airport in China connected with sea ports for passenger and cargo traffic.
7. Washington Dulles International Airport (Washington DC, USA)
The airport honours John Foster Dulles, American secretary of the state. It is one of the three airports in the city
8. Samui International Airport (Thailand)
Samui Airport is by all means unusual as it has no buildings apart from the souvenir shop. In spite of that it is the sixth busiest airport in the country handling well over a million passengers per year.
9. Princess Juliana Airport (Sint Maarten)
Located on a Caribbean island the airport is separated from the see with the beach. The planes approaching the airport fly literally over the tourists on the beach, which makes this airport exceptional.
10. John F. Kennedy International Airport – old building of TWA terminal (New York, USA)
The structure is considered to be one of the most original airport buildings in the world. There are no distinct sides and wall. Everything seems to flow symbolising permanent motion.
11. Beijing Capital International Airport, Terminal 3 (T3), (Beijing, China)
The first airport in China. The contour makes you think of a dragon. The departure lounge is accompanied with a winter garden. The airport design follows traditional Chinese patterns. It is the pride of China and in fact it is a kind of Chinese culture museum.
12. Denver International Airport (USA)
The airport impresses not only with its image, but also with the legends that surround it. During construction works enormous amounts of soil were excavated, comparable to those of the Panama Canal construction. That makes many people believe in various conspiracy theories, including those where the airport covers huge empty underground chambers beneath.
13. Dubai International Airport (UAE)
The biggest passenger airport in the United Arab Emirates, welcoming the passengers with real palm trees. In Terminal 1 there are ten sleeping cabins, each equipped with a bed, fast wi-fi access and a TV.
14. Los Angeles International Airport (USA)
One of the biggest international airports. For years it has been one of the top tourist destinations.
15. San Francisco International Airport (USA)
The biggest airports in terms of tourist turnover in the San Francisco Bay area. The terminals house museums and libraries. The lounges offer both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
16. Changi Airport (Singapore)
Number 1 of the 2020 World Airport Awards. In Skytrax rank it has won eight times in a row.
