The pilgrimage chapel of Mary of Lourdes is in the valley called Modlivý důl near the village of Svojkov in the Czech Republic. It was curved in sandstone in 1836 and replaced the wooden structure built in 1772. people would go there to ask Holy Virgin to stop the epidemics of cholera and plague. Regular religious services are still conducted there.

This is what Colossus of Rhodes might have looked like. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 227/226 BC.

The mosaic was created by Gary Drostle, a contemporary British artist. Thanks to a very skilled use of chiaroscuro ( the use of strong contrast between light and dark) you can get an impression that the Koi carps are alive, swimming freely in the pond.
