Did you use to climb trees as a child? Perhaps you had your own tree-house attached to the branches of a walnut or chestnut tree? If you would like to spend a night in the silence of a forest a few meters over the ground, Norway is the place you have got to mark on your map.
A treehouse overlooking a fjord
Near the Norwegian town of Odda, an architecture studio built two tree houses. The project is called ‘Woodnest’. The windows offer a breathtaking view of the fifth longest fjord in the world – Hardangerfjord.

Gigantic pinecones
The houses are fixed to the trunks of the pines with a steel collar. You get inside up a wooden footbridge. The houses look like huge pinecones hanging 5-6 meters over the ground. The floor area of each is about 15 square meters. There are four beds (two single beds and a twin one), a living room, a bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette.

It’s all about wood
The interior was finished with alder wood. The chairs were hand-made by Norwegian carpenters. Interestingly, all accessories and the equipment are local and mostly eco-friendly. The houses have got floor heating systems and access to the Internet.
A break away from the city
The biggest asset of the Woodnest project is the spectacular view of the fjord and the forest. This is a quiet oasis providing where you can unwind far away from the hustle and bustle of the city
Relaxing among the trees
The price of tranquility
Each house can accommodate up to four people. The price per night for two is 3,200 NOK, the equivalent of $380 per night. Each additional has to pay extra $60 per night.
