Have you ever wondered what each color of an emoji heart means? Or perhaps you think that it doesn't really matter. Well... it does!
All the colors of emoji hearts
Just like most of you at first I believed that the color of the emoji heart I used was completely meaningless and I used them all randomly. The truth is that the online culture has attached some meaning to each color. Let's start with the basic ones.
Red heart
The most common color stands for love and devotion. It also means passion and romance. Sometimes it becomes really meaningful and when you receive it from someone you have just met it might give you this wonderful butterflies in your stomach.
Orange heart
It's an alternative option for someone who would like to express their feelings towards somebody but they fear rejection. It also means a feeling that is being born and the passion that is soon to come.
Yellow heart
This is the color of friendship, having little to do with love. This is a fantastic color for family and friends, but you'd better not send it to your partner. This is when you go for the red one!
Green heart
Many people associate it with love for nature, but in fact it is often used for people who do voluntary work. Sometimes it does mean a bond with nature but it's much more often connected with... jealousy!
Blue heart
A perfect heart for your colleagues or people that you don't meet on regular basis. Blue hearts are never sent to friends or family. Sometimes, however, they symbolize loyalty and trust for a person or a given group of people. Rarely does it mean a feeling that has faded away.
Violet heart
It stands for parental love who is always understanding and patient. This is a perfect heart to communicate with your parents or children.
White heart
It is used to express sympathy for people who have lost someone or as a symbol of purity (in sexual or spiritual context) and innocence.
Brown heart
This color is used by people with darker complexion and it means exactly the same as its red counterpart. White people shouldn't use this heart.
Black heart
It is a symbol of grief, mourning, emptiness and pain. It often refers to the vacuum left by the loss of a beloved person. It stands for a flame that went out and nothing can light it again.
It's not just emoji hearts that have some hidden meaning. Why don't you check the emoji that you have been using in a wrong way!
