9 Things You Should Never Wash With Washing-up Liquid. the Results Could Be Disastrous…

Washing-up liquid is commonly believed to be a universal cleaning agent. However, there are things that should never be exposed to this product as this could bring about much more problems than benefits.

#1 Moka pot

It is really difficult to wash all the liquid away. A single wash will never do as it takes a long time to get rid of all the liquid. And that’s something the finishing of the dish does not quite tolerate. Don’t forget the soapy taste of your coffee if you don’t wash it well…

#2 Dishwasher

Under no circumstances should you use washing-up liquid in your dishwasher. Unless you want to throw a foam-party and flood half of your kitchen.

#3 Washing machine

Just like in case of dishwasher, washing-up liquid is not welcome here. The fact you make loads of foam does not mean your clothes will be cleaner.

#4 Hair

No matter how ridiculous it sounds, I know a person who came up with such an idea. Washing-up liquid will dry your hair and irritate your pulp, resulting in dandruff.

#5 Cast-iron frying pan

While washing-up liquid will remove the layer of burnt grease, all expert will also tell you that this is what helps to heat the ingredients evenly and improves their taste.
If you are really keen to do it, do it less frequently and use an alternative method. Pour some salt onto a warm pan and rub it with paper towel. Then, if you want, you can pour in some oil.

#6 Fruit and vegetables

There is a risk that if the agent is not washed away properly, you will end up with upset stomach.

#7 Potted plants

Although the Internet offers some hints where washing-up liquid is believed to be an effective pesticide, you need to know that it is primarily the life of your plants that you put at risk.

#8 Wooden floors

Washing-up liquid will do nothing but leave the floors dirty and scratched. Instead, if you want your wooden floor to shine, first hoover it or sweep it to remove any dirt or sand that could leave some scratches. Then use a wet mop and clean it.
Washing-up liquid, however, works well on tiles and vinyl-covered surfaces.

#9 Leather

As leather is really sensitive, the chemical substances washing-up liquid contains might damage it a lot. Objects made or covered with leather  require moisturizers to keep them soft. You may use washing-up liquid to clean leather shoes but you had better not do that on more delicate items of clothing.
