Natural Ginger Is a Very Effective Cure for Cold. Why Not Grow Your Own Ginger Plant?

Ginger is one of the most fragrant spices. As if that was not enough, this wonderful plant has also some healing properties. There are several advantages for our bodies if our diet includes this plant.

Ginger could be used to remedy persistent nausea, for example caused by pregnancy. It also has some anti-inflammatory properties. This is a perfect choice for people into sports as it heals the muscle and joint pains. What is more it also relieves menstruation pains. Finally, it eases the stomachaches, especially for people suffering from indigestion.

Ginger has got so many advantages that one would want to have it every day.

The only problem is that the ginger available at supermarkets might have high fertilizer content. There are two options then; you can either buy organic ginger somewhere else or buy ginger seeds and grow your own.

Ginger plants can be easily grown in pots so your apartment or house can soon be turned into a tiny ginger farm.

How to grow ginger plants

You need to remember that ginger plant prefers bright spots but without direct sun exposure. That is why the best spots will be windows with eastern or western exposure.

If you want to grow ginger plant from a fresh rhizome, make sure it is fresh and free from any defects. It should be 3-4 inches long.

1. Choose a pot and fill it in 2/3 with soil.
2. Put the rhizome horizontally on the top and cover it with an inch of soil.
3. Cover the pot with a foil bag and put it in a place with a constant temperature of 20 -25 degrees C.
4. Keep the soil properly soaked at all times.
5. Once the first sprouts show, take the foil off.

Unfortunately, ginger plants grow really slowly. The first sprouts should appear after a couple of weeks.
