Almost nobody knows why we all have this loop on the top of the shoe heel, though we all know it is there. You can find on a number of shoes, especially when it comes to sneakers. Let’s find out the secret of the heel loop!
There are at least a few applications.
#1 It makes putting and taking off much easier
This is a really intuitive thing – we just hold it without even thinking. Imagine you would have to take your shoe off (or put it on) without it!
#2 Better stability
Some people use the loop to do up the shoelaces (they use it as a an extra hole). This is supposed to ensure better foot stability.
In case of sneakers, the loops are often made of bright reflective materials, which makes the person wearing the footwear much more visible on the street when it gets dark.
#4 Putting your shoes away
Thanks to the loop you can easily pick your shoes up and take them anywhere you want. That’s a big plus for anyone who hates holding the inside of the shoe or any potentially dirty parts of it.
#5 Machine washing
People who wash shoes in a machine always tie them together so that they don’t bang all over the drum. And this is when the loop comes in handy once again, as you can thread the lace through it.
#6 Easy drying
Once you tie the shoes together, this helps to dry them faster once you take them out of the washing machine. Mind you, when they dry hanging, they are less likely to get deformed.
