A Bride Knits Her Wedding Dress on Her Way to Work. 9 Months of Knitting on a Subway Train!
Every woman wants to look perfect on the wedding day. And every single one wants her dress to be spectacular. It was also the case with an American woman who loves knitting.
Passion for wool and needles
Esther Andrews is a young designer who runs her own business. She offers hand-made knitted accessories for brides (sweaters, shawls, shrugs) who are going to get married in a rather cold month. At the moment she lives and works in Indiana (USA).
When her boyfriend proposed to her, she knew that was going to make her wedding dress herself.
Working on the train
Before the wedding Esther worked in New York,. She had a lot on her plate so she started to knit on the subway train. Every day, for 9 months, she knitted while travelling to work. Her new habit turned into a very nice routine soon. The women completed the dress right on time (a day before the wedding).

Tomatoes and sequins
She used about 4 miles of mohair lace yarn. It has got a V neckline, log sleeves and a tiered skirt. The dress was decorated with embroidered red tomatoes. Apart from that she wore black pantyhose with crystals and sequins that looked like a starry sky. Her husband was wearing a silver astronaut suit, also made by Esther.
The whole ceremony was inspired by the phrase ‘A space pirate meets a slice of tomato’. The woman found the sentence funny and at the same time stupid, which made it a perfect choice for the wedding theme. As you can see, the fun they had was out of this world!
