    F1:

You need help? The basic function of the F1 key is to open the help window. For example, if you are in a folder with files and click this button, you will start Windows help and support (if you are using such a system).

    F2:

This key allows you to rename a file or folder on your computer and actually speeds up the naming of individual files for a good few seconds. F2 can also act as a volume button.

Press Alt + Ctrl + F2 to open the document in Microsoft.

Press Ctrl + F2 to open the print preview. Select the word and press Shift + F3 - the word will start with a capital letter.

    F3:

Press this key if you want to open a search window in a specific program or website.

    F4:

Regardless of whether you accidentally opened a page you don't want to view or you're sitting at work on Facebook, Alt + F4 or Ctrl + F4 can save you from the bad boss look. This key combination will cause the current site to simply shut down without saving. In Word, the F4 button will repeat the last action you performed.

    F5:

If the website freezes, the F5 button may be helpful. When your browser is open, press F5 and the page will refresh automatically. If you want to completely refresh the browser (and clear the cache), press CTRL + F5. You can also use this button to open the find / replace button in Word or start a new slide show in PowerPoint.

    F6:

If you are typing and want to save few seconds, press F6 to move the cursor to the selected web browser. Combining CTRL + Shift + F6 will open a new text document. This button may also act as a volume button on some laptops.

    F7:

If you're busy writing a document in Word, click F7 to start the spell checker.

    F8:

On a Mac, F8 shows the thumbnails of all open workspaces. On the other hand, in Windows it starts the safe mode (useful if you think you have a virus on your computer).

    F9:

The F9 key opens the email window in Outlook and also opens the measurement toolbar in Quark 5.0. On some laptops, it may reduce screen brightness. In OS 10.3, the F9 key is used to display thumbnails of workspace images. Click Fn + F9 to open the mission control on Mac OS X.

    F10:

The F10 button will open the application menu bar and in Windows 10 it will open the option to send the project to another screen (e.g. TV or other computer). If you click Shift + F10, the function bar will appear as if you use right mouse click. In IOS, the F10 button will display all open windows.

    F11:

Press F11 to enter and exit the full screen mode in the web browser. In IOS, the F11 button hides all open windows (this is a good option if your children enter the room when you buy Christmas presents online). In Excel, pressing Shift + F11 will add a new sheet to the document.

    F12:

In Word, clicking the F12 button will automatically save the document (Save As function).

Press CTRL + F12 to open the document in Microsoft Word.

SHIFT + F12 saves the document (just like CTRL + S).

CTRL + SHIFT + F12 prints the document.

In IOS 10.4 or later, F12 shows and hides the dashboard.

Warning! Pay attention each key may have a slightly different function if you press it together with the Fn function key.

Now you know what the F1 to F12 keys are made for! If you know someone who doesn't known about these key functions for a long time, make sure to let them know!
