Chips are one of the most popular snacks all over the world. Watching TV or hanging out with friends would never be the same without these yummy slices of potatoes. However, there is a brand that decided to stand out from the crowd of competition with a far higher price. Let us introduce the most expensive chips in the world!
When beer is not enough
St. Eriks Bryggeri is a small Swedish brewery, famous for top quality premium beer. After launching their luxury beverage, India Pale Ale, they realized that its fans also deserve a luxury snack. This is how the chips were born. Their current retail price is approximately $56. The packet contains only 5 pieces. Each of them has got a separate slot.
Top quality ingredients
Why are the chips so expensive? The answer is very simple: it’s all because of carefully selected ingredients. They were chosen by members of the National Culinary Academy. Each chip has a distinct flavor but they were all made of a special variety of potatoes. They grow on a southern slope in Ammarnäs, Sweden. They are farmed and picked by hand. The spices include seaweed tasting like truffles (imported from the Faroe Islands), royal fennel (collected by hand on the south of Sweden) Matsutake mushrooms (with cheesy flavor, growing in Swedish pine forests) and onion growing in the area of Leksand (Sweden) which is always planted on May 18 and picked on August 10.
Expensive chips selling like hot cakes
Only 100 packets of the chips were made, each coming with a certificate of authenticity. They sold out in a blink of an eye. This clearly shows that there are still some people who really appreciate good beer and tasty snacks.
