A modern version of 'Hanging Gardens of Babylon' is a massive shopping and entertainment centre that has just been developed in one of the most popular districts of Shanghai, China. Inside and around the building there are 1,000 trees.

The project has been developed for 8 years and is supposed to stun its visitors with its modern design and eco-friendly approach, with the latter rather uncommon in China.

The complex of the buildings does look like an urban jungle, especially when viewed from the bird's eye or a large distance.

Apart from a number of stores the center has got movie theaters, museums and theme parks.

The 1,000 trees to be planted all over the place are to come from as many as 70 various species.

As if that was not enough, within the next few years, there will be two more floors to be added so that the whole structure will look like a hanging garden indeed.
