Lava Lamp

Get hypnotized by this mesmerizing homemade lamp!
No matter how old you are, a look of a lava lamp will always get you hypnotized. The calming movement of the liquid that quivers and separates into different shapes can hold your attention for a long time. But since this funky lamp is a bit pricey, I am happy to bring a DIY instruction on how to make it at home.

Just like the store-bought lava lamps, this mesmerizing homemade version relies on a simple fact that oil and water don't mix. On "S.L.Smith" blog, hosted by Stephanie Smith,I found a detailed instruction with pictures that will guide you through the process. All you need is some basic, household ingredients – plastic bottles, vegetable oil, water, food coloring and Alka-Seltzer.

Don’t be shy and show us your versions of the Lava Lamp. We’re curious which shapes of bottles and colors work best for you and how much fun you had while making it!
