Dishwasher Tablets to Clean Your Washing Machine

It goes without saying that the bathroom is where we spend a big part of our life. Baths, doing the hair, putting on make-up or doing the laundry - no wonder this place has to be kept clean. It’s not just about the way it looks, but primarily it’s about health issues. Bathroom could be a hotbed for fungus, mold and bacteria, which usually choose the least accessible spots to grow.

Although you try to use the best detergents to wash your clothes, still there may be some dirt residue left inside the machine. How can you clean it? Even if you think the inside is clean, the reality must be totally different. Tiny slots and gaps might hide lots of bacteria. To prevent the unpleasant smell, always leave the washing machine door open once the washing is over. That will ensure better airflow and the musty smell will be gone.

Check on regular basis the door seal. This is where the dirt and bacteria accumulate the most. Swipe it with a cloth and the least accessible spots with an ear stick. If the dirt is more stubborn, you can use vinegar and some essential oil.

Throw one or two tablets inside the drum and then turn on the so-called ‘empty machine cycle’. Do not wash any clothes at the same time! Remember that this is about cleaning the machine so the drum must be empty. Set the machine for a full cycle and high temperature, at least 60 degrees C, though it might be even 90!

The tablets will get rid of hard-water residue and dirt. High temperature will kill of bacteria and other microorganisms. The tables will also make the drum smell fresh. As a result, the machine will be more effective and your clothes will be much cleaner.

Once you clean your dishwasher, don’t forget to leave the door open. Also clean the washing powder drawer (you can do that with an old toothbrush for example) and the filter (remember to secure the floor as once you open it some water might spill out). You’d better do that before you start the ‘empty machine cycle’.
