Copper Tape Will Protect Your Plants from Snails

We have recently shared with you a bunch of natural ways to handle snail invasion in your garden. In the meantime I came across another interesting method. The thing is that snails apparently don't tolerate copper. It isn't quite clear why it is so. It might be the case that their slime somehow reacts with this element which results in a tine electric discharge. Though harmless for the creatures, still it makes them retreat immediately.

How can we use copper in this war against snails and slugs?

Adhesive copper tape is widely available on the market. It is thin and cheap (5 meters cost approximately $5). Use it to cover the edges of pots, crates and patches (if they are elevated) and fences. You can also stick it around the trees. Everything here is really up to you.

To prevent snails from climbing the plants you can use rings. Their price depends on the diameter (6 rings costs about $25). The ring surrounds the plant and is fixed deep in the ground (snails can dig through on small depth). Also, no part of the plant can stick out of the ring as snails can climb across them onto the plant.

A cheaper option is to cut out any rings of, for example, plastic bottles, and covering their edges with copper tape.

Well, I have no idea what kind of tape do you need to keep this one at bay.
