Cake Planets

Go on a space travel and bake these cake planets!
We featured some animal cakes: Chocolate Owl Cake or Butterfly-shaped Cake but these may satisfy daughters’ needs. Whose son wouldn’t like to visit the space? My keeps on dreaming about flying and being an astronaut. I can’t give him the opportunity to realize his dreams now, but I think I’ve just found a makeshift.

These cakes absolutely rock! The three dimensional Cake Planets created by self-taught chef Rhiannon from Cakecrumbs, represent the subsurface on Jupiter and Earth. The cakes may be educational and decorative at the same time. I wonder how they taste.

Would you bake these planets for your boys or girls? I’m just getting down to work. If you feel like sharing your cake ideas, don’t hesitate and post them below.

EDIT: We have a little girl at home and she's too tiny to fully appreciate these amazing cakes. That is the reason why I instinctively focused on boys but I'm sure that Planet Cakes are perfect for girls too!

Check out the full recipe on Cakecrumbs website.

I’m a girl and I think these are really awesome! The owl cake seems great for any boy who likes animals. Please don’t separate boys and girls like that… Planets, robots and science are not boy exclusive. Animals, houses and baking are not girl exclusive.

We promise not to separate boys and girls from now on ;) It wasn’t intentional and I agree with you that planets, robots and science are not boy exclusive :)

the rings of Jupiter are faint and consist mainly of dust :) besides, it would be really hard to make them, don’t you think? ;)
