12 Life-Saving Cooking Tricks. Kitchen Is the Place Where Practical Solutions Are Always Appreciated!

No matter how many cooking hacks you have learnt, it is never enough. There is always some room for improvement. Even professional cooks would not hesitate for a moment to make use of the simple tricks we have got for you here.

#1 Keep your eggs fresh even longer

You have bought a bit too many eggs and you want them to stay fresh? Just grease them with plant oil and put in a box with the narrower part downwards.

#2 Instant egg peeling

Now that you know how to keep eggs fresh, let’s learn how to peel hard-boiled eggs easily. Though there are many ways, we would normally do the trick with a slice of lemon. Sounds weird? You will be surprised even more when you see how easily the shells will come off!

#3 How to prevent wasting the whole lemon

The recipe clearly asks for just ‘a couple of lemon juice drops’ and you are just about to sacrifice the whole fruit. Wrong. Pierce it with a toothpick and squeeze these few drops only. Then cover the hole. This is how you will stop the fruit from going dry, keeping it fresh much longer of course.

#4 To the rescue of stale chips

The movie night went on too long, you forgot to hide the chips and they have lost their crisp? Eating them is the last thing you would want to do? There is still a way to save them.
Put a piece of kitchen paper towel on a plate and pour the chips on it. Then put it all into a microwave for 30 seconds. And that’s it!

#5 Storing bottles in the refrigerator

Let’s face it – few of us have enough space in the refrigerator to store bottles in the vertical position (standing). When they are lying, they begin to roll all over the shelf. Unless you use paper clips to hold them still!

#6 Ham and tomato sandwich

This is by far one of the most common combinations. And perhaps this is why we all know how annoying it can be when the tomato slice slips off the bread. There are two ways to prevent that. First, put the tomato under cheese and/ or ham. Or just roll it with the ham.

#7 Perfectly grilled fish

Fish and lemon are such a perfect match. Apart from the flavor advantages, this is an ideal way to prevent the fish from sticking to the barbecue grid.

#8 Keep stretch foil in the refrigerator

The foil, although very practical, could be really irritating once you have to use it. It folds, wrinkles and adheres to anything it meets on its way. Still, if you keep it in the refrigerator, that won’t be an issue anymore!

#9 No pomegranate seeds mess

When you peel the fruit, sometimes the kitchen looks as if the fruit exploded in there. If you want to avoid making such a mess, use water. Make a few small cuts on the fruit and immerse it in a bowl of cold water. When you take out the seeds under water, the juice won’t splash all over the place. Moreover, it will be easier to remove the white membrane. So much easier, so much cleaner!

#10 Heating food in a microwave

Hot outside, frozen inside. All microwave users know what we are talking about. Next time all you need to do is.. to make a hole in the middle of the food. This is to help the heat penetrate the dish more proportionally and your food will be warmer everywhere.

#11 Chopping without messing

If your chopping board has got a handle hole, you can use it to pour the food through it onto the frying pan. That will prevent the pieces of onion or pepper from falling all over the cooker.

#12 The spice essentials always at hand

Are you planning a barbecue with your friends or a family picnic? Don’t take all the spices you have at home with you. You can reuse empty TicTac boxes. They are much more handy and definitely occupy much less space.
