Have you ever done your laundry and when you take your clothes out of the washing machine you smell a suffocating musty smell? It can be frustrating because we always want to look good and smell nice, and clothes that have washed badly don't guarantee us that.
It turns out that there may be one major reason why your clothes smell even worse after washing than before.
The problem is not the clothes, the washing liquid or the washing process, but the washing machine itself. When was the last time you checked the inside of your machine? Maybe it's time to give it a good cleaning!
The metal interior of your washing machine may be clean, but it's not the metal you need to pay attention to, it's the inner rubber edge. This is where moisture accumulates and mold forms, which causes your clothes to smell bad and also has a negative impact on your health and well-being.
Mold in your washing machine can cause serious health problems for both allergic and non-allergic people
If mold germs have moved onto your clothing (especially near your mouth or nose), you may be at risk for ailments such as throat irritation, sinus problems, runny nose, nosebleeds, watering, red eyes, and skin rashes.
Fortunately, you can easily clean this part of the washing machine and get rid of the danger
Just take the vinegar and the oil of your choice such as lavender or tea tree oil. Pour the vinegar into a spray bottle and pour the oil into a second dispenser bottle. Spray the inside of the washing machine with the oil, and the rubber part of the washing machine, where mold accumulates, with the vinegar. Don't forget the inside of the washing machine door too! Place a fabric cloth soaked in vinegar in the rubber seal of the washing machine and leave it for at least 10 minutes. During this time, you can clean the filter or the drawer where you put the powder.
Next, remove the cloth and wipe the rubber part of the washing machine dry - it's best to use paper towels for this, this way you won't spread the dirt to other parts of the washing machine.
Also wipe down the center of the washing machine to make sure the essential oil isn't left behind.
The next step is to add vinegar to the drawer and set the washing machine to the highest temperature and a long cycle. This will keep your washing machine clean and fresh, and all the nasty mold germs will be gone.
