I bet you have no idea what your microwave can really do. If you think it is just a heating and defrosting device, then you are all so wrong. Find out the real potential of your microwave!
#1 Removing stamps from the envelopes
Just put a few drops of water onto the stamp and put it into the oven for 20 seconds. It will come off easily!
#2 Roasting peanuts
If you need to quickly roast some peanuts, nothing will do it better than the microwave. Pour some plant oil onto a plate and then pour a glass of nuts onto it. Put it into the oven for a minute, take it out, stir it, and put it back for a minute again. Repeat until they are roasted the way you want.
#3 Disinfecting sponges
Wash the sponge with water and squeeze it. Then put it for two minutes in the microwave. 99% of all bacteria dwelling there will be killed off!
#4 Refreshing your chips
If you left a packet of chips open for too longer, they will no longer be that crunchy. But with a microwave there are no reasons to worry! Pour them onto a paper towel and put into the oven for a couple of seconds. They will be yummy again.
#5 Disinfecting the chopping board
Rub the board with a lemon on both sides. Then put it into the microwave for a minute. Wash it all down afterwards.
#6 Cleaning itself
If your microwave got greasy, there is a way to handle it. Put a bowl with water and half a lemon inside. Leave it there for 5 minutes and set medium power. Then wipe it with a clean cloth. It will shine again!
#7 Making an omelet
Put the egg (white and yolk of course only), cheese, salt and pepper into a mug. Stir it well. Then pour the mixture onto a plate. Then put it into the oven for 45 seconds. Yummy!
#8 Deactivating onions
No, there are no mistakes here. If you peel the onion and put it for 30 seconds into the oven, it won't make you cry while you are chopping it.
#9 Drying herbs
Put the herbs on a paper plate or a paper towel and dry them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take them out, turn around and put there again. Repeat until the herbs are dry enough.
#10 Peeling garlic
Put a bulb of garlic into the oven for 15 seconds. You will see how easily the layers will come off.
#11 Refreshing the bread
Set the highest powers and wrap the bread with dump paper towel. Keep it there for 10 seconds and enjoy soft and fresh bread.
#12 Helping to soak beans and lentils
Some recipes require that the lentils or beans be soaked for a couple of hours. If you forget to do it and you are pressed for time, your microwave will save you again. Put the beans (or whatever else has to be soaked) into a bowl of water with a pinch of baking soda. Put the bowl into the oven for 10 minutes. Take it out and wait 30 – 40 minutes. It is much shorter than it normally takes, yet the effect is the same.
#13 Peeling tomatoes
This can be a little annoying, can't it? Still, it does not have to be if you put the tomato for 30 seconds into the microwave. Just wait two minutes before you peel it. You can use the same trick if you have to peel a peach.
#14 Squeezing lemons or limes
Put the fruit into the oven for 10 – 20 seconds. The juice will flow out far more easily later on.
I guess you can see it now that the microwave oven is a truly versatile device!
