We all love soft fluffy towels. This is how they feel when they are brand new. Every time we wash them, though, they get stiffer and stiffer. Luckily, there is a simple way to make them feel like they were new again!

    #1 Washing powders and liquids

The thing is that the loss of softness is nothing but our own fault. We use way too much washing powder or liquid. Adding a lot of them won’t make towels even softer. Quite the contrary – the powder residue on towel fabrics glues them together.

    #2 Drying

Never hang the towels on the rack without shaking them out first. And, of course, air-dried towels feel much nicer. Last but not least, who can do it better than the wind and the sun?

#3 How to wash towels so that they are soft?

    Vinegar and baking soda

For towels, it is much better to use baking soda instead of fabric softener and vinegar instead of washing liquid.

Vinegar will dissolve the residue of past washing detergents while soda will prevent any new residue from adhering. As a result, the towels will be much fluffier.

    A glass of vinegar

Half a glass of baking soda.

How to wash towels so that they are soft?

Use one glass of vinegar per single washing. Pour vinegar into the washing detergent drawer. Pour half a glass of baking soda into the softener drawer.

    #4 Never too many!

Please remember not to put too many towels for a single washing cycle.

Colorful towels may fade because of baking soda.

Now that you know the theory, why not use it in practice? Good luck!
