For many people, the very idea of washing feather pillows in a washing machine may seem downright implausible. However, it can be easily done. However, you need to stick to certain rules.

• First, make sure the pillow is not ripped. No one would want the feathers to come out and damage the washing machine.
• Place only one pillow in the drum. This way it will have plenty of space and will certainly not be washed out.
• Next, add the right detergents. Only mild detergents with lanolin will be suitable. Choose those dedicated to washing down and feathers.
• Finally, turn on the appropriate program. Remember that the temperature should never exceed 40℃. Hand washing or a special program for washing down will be appropriate.

• The best option would be to take them outside and let them dry. However, our climate often does not allow such a drying option.
• Put them in a tumble dryer. In it they should dry slowly and at a low temperature.
• If you don't have an automatic dryer, put them on a regular dryer at home. Every 2-3 hours, shake them vigorously and turn them to the other side. This way they will not lose their shape and will always be soft. Such drying can take up to several days.

Put a few tennis balls in the drum while washing and drying. This clever trick will ensure that the feathers do not clump together and the pillow will retain its natural shape and fluffiness. The balls break up the feathers on the fly and thus no lumps are formed. Instead of tennis balls, you can also use special balls made of plastic, which are dedicated just for washing down, as well as feathers.
